IIT Visit
“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be discovered”
Students of The Modern School participated in the STEM mentorship program, organized by IIT Delhi for High school girls from Wednesday, 14th June, 2023 to Friday, 16th June, 2023. The main objective of this initiative was to provide scientific exposure to high school girls at an early stage to encourage them to pursue science and technology research as their career.
The workshop was organized for three days and divided in six different sessions in which the students got an opportunity to visit different laboratories and learn from the highly skilled and experienced researchers.
DAY 1- Wednesday, 14th June
The very first session was taken by Prof. Abhijit Majumdar who explained about his research on manufacturing of Body Armors especially for females using different polymers created and tested in his own lab. The second session with Prof. Rohan Paul was about developing aids to assist the visually challenged people in terms of their independent movement through sensors in their walking canes and in the field of knowledge with the help of tactile kits and braille keyboards.
DAY 2- Thursday, 15th June
The second day of the workshop started with the session about research ethics and plagiarism by Ms. Vanita Khanchandani followed by a visit to the amazing Central Library of IIT Delhi. The second session was regarding the field of Chemical Engineering under Prof. Kavya Dashora in her laboratory where the students were surprised to learn about various discoveries like Mock Eggs and Nanoparticles and other research work in the field of biotechnology and food technology.
DAY 3- Friday, 16th June
The final day of the workshop started with the session by Prof. Arun Kumar guiding the students about the research work regarding environmental welfare going on in his Environmental Engineering Lab.
The last session was truly an amazing one by the team of Botlab Dynamics in which the students were shown and even given a demonstration about the drones and their working.
The workshop was a very knowledgeable and intriguing experience for the students and it gave them a motivation to think creatively to scientifically and create a successful path.
