NITIGYA MUN 1.0

The contemporary world is plagued with plethora of social, economic and political issues and the role of students as future leaders becomes pivotal in addressing them. Model United Nations offers an ebullient opportunity to the students to debate and deliberate by doing the role of delegate of the allotted country. The Modern School, Faridabad ventured into organizing its first chapter of Nitigya MUN 1.0 on October 29, 2022 – October 30, 2022 to foster an environment of diplomatic discussions. A total of 12 schools and almost 300 students attended the two day session. The opening ceremony was organized in the amphitheatre and Ms. Meera Malhotra, Coordinator Board of Trustees was the Chief Guest. With her insightful words, she urged the ambassadors of tomorrow to shoulder their responsibility towards the society and mother earth. Soon after the introduction of the stellar Executive Board, the session was declared open by the General Secretary, Ms. Akansha Bhatia. The students were shuffled into five committees.

After a sumptuous breakfast, 72 delegates of UNHRC deliberated on the agenda- ‘The right to privacy in the digital age’.  It being the largest committee was packed with lots of action. Meanwhile, UNCSW tackled the pertinent issue of ‘Gender equality with special emphasis on political participation of women’. The committee comprised of seasoned speakers and dynamic perspectives could be witnessed on the floor.

All India Political Party Meet saw heated debate as the delegates attempted to put forth their views on Reservation System in India. Disguised as the various political leaders, students even incorporated their style of presentation which was a cherry on the cake.

Another significant committee was UNESCO which deliberated on Literacy rate among lower income groups. Most of the participants were first timers but hundred percent involvement was exhibited which was appreciable.

These committees were also supplemented by the working of an International Press that worked tirelessly throughout the conference producing numerous articles and photographs.

NITIGYA MUN 1.0 culminated with the closing ceremony being graced by the presence of Ms. Meera Malhotra, Coordinator Board of Trustees, Ms. Jyoti Bhalla, Principal, Manaskriti School and Ms. Sunita Singh, Principal, Delhi Scholars International School. The students though exhausted were still excited as they created new bonds and embarked on a journey which would have many milestones similar to NITIGYA.
